Integrity

[v0.2]

Difficulty is licensed only when it reveals a relation easier prose would conceal. Accidental ambiguity is a defect. Divergent consequence is a blocker.

[rule] Integrity is a release condition, not a review note.

Two tests every release passes

01

Accessible recoverability

Every essential claim, relation, instruction and consequence has a complete route independent of colour, typeface, motion, hover or spatial vision.

02

Defensible semantic surplus

The transformation adds a meaning that a reviewer can name, defend and relate to the claim. Difficulty alone does not qualify.

Ambiguity classes

Record designed ambiguity as primary reading, alternate reading, purpose, resolution point and consequence if misread. A0–A3 are licensed under conditions. AX is always a reject.

A0Exact

One operational reading

Required for Decision; default for formal Explanation.

A1Resonant

Primary meaning + compatible echoes

Useful when secondary readings deepen rather than contradict the proposition.

A2Suspensive

Meaning resolves later

The delay must be bounded, intentional and rewarding on rereading.

A3Contested

The issue itself remains unsettled

Name the alternatives, evidence and consequence of each interpretation.

AXDivergent

Different commitments

Reject when plausible readings alter action, authority, rights, cost or remedy.

Eight release gates

No gate is “not applicable” without a written rationale. Release order: licence → recovery + surplus → reader + power → relations + evidence + lineage → consent → responsive + access.

01

Licence + consequence

Classify the act

Mark Encounter, Explanation or Decision and make each transition perceptible.

[block] Decision consequence hides inside encounter ambiguity.

02

Proposition + recovery

Recover the claim and its surplus

Provide the canonical route, local operator ledger and notation status.

[block] Styling supplies an unsupported claim.

03

Reader + power

Audit position, benefit and burden

Name speaker, addressee, authority, beneficiary, burden holder and affected non-reader.

[block] Viewer silently becomes consenter, or the actor disappears.

04

Relations + evidence + lineage

Keep every jurisdiction inspectable

Type claims, joins, warrants, mechanisms, counterconditions and authority gates.

[block] Pertinence becomes proof, or styling bridges a logical gap.

05

Authority + remedy

Protect agency at state change

Disclose basis, prior and resulting state, alternatives, receipt, expiry and remedy.

[block] One-way, bundled or preselected choice.

06

Responsive + accessible

Preserve rhetorical invariants

Test narrow, wide, print, no-JS, keyboard, screen reader, zoom and reduced motion.

[block] A relation, refusal or consequence exists only in colour or position.

07

Ethics + harm

Do not reproduce the harm

Review capture, coercion, exposure, stereotype, exclusion and repair.

[block] Rhetorical simulation creates material harm.

08

Registry + version

Release a governed object

Record owner, evidence, mandate, effective date, expiry, deprecated readings and correction.

[block] Identity, provenance or current version disagrees.

One jurisdiction per channel

Never ask one hue to carry domain, status and sequence at once. This is the same rule the semantic meanings follow with shape — the channel is the carrier, and it can only carry one thing.

Hue

carries Domain

✗ never Epistemic status or sequence

Line syntax + label

carries Epistemic status

✗ never Domain

Position + tone

carries Sequence

✗ never Authority

Signal accent

carries The current operative hinge

✗ never Default buttons or decoration

Chromatic discipline

Area roles, not colour families. Signal derives its force from scarcity — this is the same discipline as the 5% dusk rule on the colour page, stated as a full-composition budget.

70 / canvas — The reading ground.

20 / structure — Readable structure and boundary.

8 / trace — Analytic domain accents.

2 / signal — The current operative event.

Anti-pattern index

Named failures. Each one is a way a composition can look rigorous while doing something else.

Universal symbol dictionary

Assigning fixed meanings to code-like marks regardless of operand and context.

Aesthetic computationality

Borrowing system syntax to manufacture precision or authority.

Plain-language reduction

Calling form expendable when it carries enacted meaning.

Pronoun capture

Using "we" or "you" to annex the reader or fabricate consent.

Hidden agent

Using passivity to shift investigative burden onto the affected person.

Coercive CTA

Making assent prominent while refusal, consequence or remedy recedes.

Ornamental quantification

Using weights, arrows or equations without scale, mechanism or source.

Responsive flattening

Keeping words while deleting the path, suspension or action parity.

Evidence halo

Surrounding a claim with charts to manufacture authority without a declared function.

Corpus realism

Treating the circulation of language as real-world prevalence or truth.

Join slippage

Allowing "bears upon" to become "supports" through proximity or styling.

Centre-as-truth

Using spatial centrality to upgrade a source account into verified fact.

Missing-denominator theatre

Displaying a precise count without the population, corpus, baseline or scope.

Span laundering

Attaching evidence to a softened paraphrase instead of the exact claim examined.
